Languages and audiovisual media –
my passion, my profession
Hi! My name is Lisa Menne and I am a German native speaker translating into and from English and French. I’ve always had a passion for foreign languages and travelling as well as a fascination for other cultures. Therefore, I chose to turn my passion into my profession.
Right from the start, I knew that I wanted to work in the audiovisual field. However, I first established a basis in several different fields throughout my study programmes. Besides audiovisual content, I translated technical and medical texts and took my first steps in software localisation.
I already became a freelance translator during my Master’s programme and started working for various clients, which helped me gain experiences in the “real world”. In the beginning, the majority of my translation projects were rather technical.
After finishing my Master’s thesis about “Audiodescription of Sign Language”, I now want to concentrate more on audiovisual media and use my skills to make audiovisual content accessible for a broad audience – always considering the needs of the target audience with its languages, cultures, and systems. By means of carefully chosen methods, such as subtitling, voice-over, dubbing, and audio description, your content can reach the audience you wish for.
This mission in mind, I am highly motivated to continuously extend my language skills as well as my knowledge in the audiovisual field and to give my full attention to the requirements of your indiviual project. I am curious, creative, and reliable. But the most important aspect is that I love what I do, which I try to get across in every interaction with my clients.
